Working principle of sawdust tumble dryer

1. Wet chips are transferred to the hopper by belt conveyor or bucket elevator and sent through the charge pipe by filling machine. In order to make the chips get into the drum fluently, gradient of filling pipe is larger than that of chips.

2. Drying drum can rotate and has a little gradient. chips are filled from the high side, heating –carrying agent entre from the low side, which form the countercurrent contacting. Some dryers are designed in concurrent flow. Chips rotate and go to the low side under the effect of gravity. Chips are drying under the heating of heating-carrying agent in the process of sliding to the low side. At last, the dry chips are transferred out by belt conveyor or screw conveyor.

3. There are plates in the inner wall of drum, they can make the chips full contact with the heating flow, which decreases the drying time and pushes chips to the low side. Heating-carrying agent can be heating air, flue-gas. After heating-carrying agent pass through the rotary drum, the material dust is usually collected by the cyclone dust collector. If want to make the off gas less dust, the off gas should be cleaned by the bag filter or hydro filter. 

Usage of sawdust tumble dryer

This dryer can dry many kinds of materials which contain moisture, such as sawdust, wood chips, coal, coal slurry, slag, industrial waste, and clay stone. They are widely used in building materials, metallurgy, and chemical industry.
